A Tale of Game Porting: GB Studio Adventures

“A Tale of Game Porting: GB Studio Adventures

Well, that was interesting…

I recently embarked on a journey to port my game over to GB Studio 3.2, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure. Here’s what unfolded:

  1. Frozen Moments: At certain points in the first level (yes, I’ve only tackled the first level so far), the game decided to freeze on me. It was like time stood still, and I found myself scratching my head, wondering why this was happening. Alas, the mysteries of game development!
  2. The Sluggish Player: Ah, the player character – our trusty avatar in the digital realm. But wait, why was my player slowing down considerably during gameplay? It was as if they’d decided to take a leisurely stroll through the pixelated landscape. Yet again, I couldn’t quite put my finger on the cause.
  3. Back to the Drawing Board: Faced with these intriguing developments, I made a decision. For now, I’m reverting to good ol’ GB Studio 2.0.0-Beta5. Why, you ask? Because there, my game still behaves as intended – no frozen moments, no sluggishness, just smooth sailing (or pixelating, rather).

And so, my fellow game devs, the saga continues. Will GB Studio 3.2 reveal its secrets? Will my player regain their pep? Only time (and perhaps some more debugging) will tell.

Until then, happy coding, and may your pixels align flawlessly!
